I am so mesmerised with both Mishima and his characters’ destructive drive to achieve beauty, how they subconsciously or consciously choose to make martyrs of themselves in very human way: not for a grand change to the world around them, but for the change of themselves, their own grasp of reality, to make sense of their lives in a pragmatical and meaningless world, not built for their romanticised perception.
It’s easy to understand their motivation, with no need to actually agree with their actions. Same with their desire to create meaning, always through some form of destruction that is meaningless. I simply cannot look away.

Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears 1980

a SOVIET(!) movie’s deconstructing concepts of marriage and masculinity yet everyone’s bitching about how Gosha is an asshole cause he basically has flaws and insecurities like any other human being???
I think it’s so obvious that the reason why he acted the way he did is that he got hurt in the past. It’s heavily hinted that his previous relationships were ruined by the differences in status. And that’s exactly why he is so crazy about it!

My Own Private Idaho 1991

I am that shake river phoenix makes as he's crying and punching the bed and calling for scott very quietly knowing that it was the last goodbye and they will never speak to each other again as scott rides off in a taxi with his future wife but I am also the 'My Own Private River (Idaho) Extended Campfire Hug' video on youtube but I am ALSO thinking, however, that so many parts of this movie are fucking nonsensical
