desire coils into itself like a möbius strip of organic circuitry.

    ★★★

what happens when capitalism tries to gaslight you into loving your oppressor? arthur gives us a bourgeois fool, insulated from material consequence, his alienation drowned in liquor but never in struggle. the film flirts with class antagonism only to sublimate it into sentimentality—affirming that wealth, no matter how unearned, can be redeemed by charm.

a joyless slog masquerading as boundary-pushing drama. The central affair is less scandalous than the intern’s bizarre milk obsession, which somehow gets more screen time than any meaningful character development.

two stars before i watched the npr interview he did, but now three. i appreciate how personable andrew is & his genuine ability to hear different perspectives. i also love his all gas no breaks commentary.

i think he was, unfortunately, remiss in his analyzation/interpretation of the events. this could have just as easily been an all gas no breaks youtube video.
