I just love these movies that just show a page in the life of a few characters with all its rawness and greyness. It’s such an accurate portrayal of a distinctly North American conversations I hear (they are often superficially deep).
For all its mention of Ithaca, I wish they’d showed it! +0.5 stars for this anyway
4 stars just for the absolutely stunning visuals. Easily some of the best I have ever seen on TV and deserves a physical release (this is a good time to start, Netflix).
A shoutout to the beautiful Benedetta Porcaroli for being one of the two people to carry this show.
I’m sure the show deviated quite a bit from the book but I love it! It’s so emotionally gutting and depicts the rapid changes at the end of the Bourbon era quite well.
Amidst the hierarchical hustle culture of the day, Perfect Days shows the beauty of routine doing modest jobs. Everyday is the same and everyday is different. It’s the simple things in life: a beautiful canopy, a soothing bath, a riveting book, sumptuous food… Wim Wenders succeeds in showing the “perfect” in all of this.
Love the movie and would aim to incorporate some of these aspects into my lifestyle.
Painful, painful watch! Why do these indie filmmakers have to make a movie such a struggle to watch! I regret not leaving half an hour into the movie when I saw the reviews on Google. Shouldn’t have trusted Reddit recommendations and letterboxd reviews. This isn’t the first time letterboxd reviews led me astray on indie movies.
