The shaky camera and immersive cinematography made me feel, for a moment, like I was working in that Chinese restaurant. But aside from that, nothing else really stood out to me. Take Out was my least favorite Sean Baker movie (besides Four Letter Words I guess). The editing felt off at times, with weird jump cuts between conversations and some odd shot choices.

I’m not sure how to review this. I’ve been watching all of Sean Baker’s films back to back, and at this point, I’m so immersed in his filmmaking style that I think I’m becoming addicted to his way of portraying life. As simple as Starlet may seem on the surface, I find it to be a very immersive film, drawing us deeply into the unlikely friendship between an elderly woman and a porn star.
