  Rewatched this for the first time in 25 years and I still have no idea what I just watched. It's a surrealist fantasy that ends in an incredibly bizarre way. It is definitely far more for the "vibes" audience than narrative audience so I would only recommend to people who are either heavily invested in 90s anime history or people obsessed with craftmanship.

  This movie is so genuinely awful that I'm almost questioning the taste of anyone who enjoyed this films. It has 2 major problems that make it irredeemable for me.

  1. From an aesthetic point of view this movie makes no sense. Edgar Wright deliberately goes out of his way to make literally (like LITERALLY LITERALLY) every single shot of this movie as 'cute' and 'unique' as possible. As if this movie could or should solely exist as an aesthetic mood…

  The archival footage is the real gem of this. The rest of this is meh surface level advertising documentary for whatever her next album is going to be. Doesn't really dig into her work on any level beyond superficial and you don't really unearth anything you didn't already know about Janet
