loads of nice sunglasses in this john. the exposition is done tastefully, there’s some decent dialogue, and the plan all wraps up nicely with a neat little bow at the end. there could be a bit more meat on the proverbial romantic bone… it felt like julia roberts was just conned into getting back with george clooney. otherwise, top gag goes to don cheadle’s woeful english accent.

The Long Goodbye 1973
wise cracking, exceptionally chill PI sifts through horseshit to work out what’s really up. lots of chain smoking, sloppy overdubs, pretty cars, and zingers from mr marlowe, set over some beautiful shots and nice music. a lot of scenes with animals too, which is cute. top gags have gotta be the jewish (?) american gangster boss exclusively talking spanish to his hispanic goon only to have him reply in perfect english. either that or the two dogs banging
