  Ivan's Childhood 1962

  I wish I had a more academic response to this film, but all I can say is this struck a chord in me I didn't realize was there. I will think about Ivan's soft "I'm not afraid" for a long time. I could come up with something witty to say about this, but I can't, because it is so frightening to watch a child's experience of war. Similarly to Come and See, this film forces you to bear witness to the purity of youth. My mom always tells me that children see though God, and I find that same sentiment in this film.

  Many things wrong with this movie… didn’t even try to be historically accurate, Paul giamatti has prosthetic lazy eye it isn’t even real, the dissolve shots… but worst of all was one of the last lines.
