Chills throughout the whole thing, especially because it’s based on a completely true story—I just disliked the fact that Erin, the main character who’s practically an angelic hero in this case, had to fall mentally weak at certain points (because of a man) and then mentored by a man (her father) as if to explain her success; I don’t know if this is based on true events as well. Anyway, I teared up multiple times, and while written in a cliche manner, this was not the white savior concept I could see it being. Everyone should watch this.
I love a film with real humans and a real story that can make me cry without needing to emotionally manipulate me with fake dialogue or extravagant moments. The soundtrack made it even more beautiful. I would’ve called this film “The Simplest Things”, by the way, based on Dr. Sayer’s speech in the end and also because the scenes that made me appreciate life and tear up were quite simple (yet elegantly written and shot).
