Phenomenalt shot and well performed. It's hard to find a theme communicated as well as this. I was so engrossed in everything that I started feeling stressed, something I really appreciate (always chasing that Archive 81.high).
Although it takes its time, I wish there was a little more meat on the bone and that the ending didn't feel so tangential/abrupt. Still gets top marks due to near-flawless execution.
Original gimmick for an action movie, check. Likeable lead actor, check. Love interest with interactions that are actually really sweet? Ok this is interesting Amber Midthunder is great aaaaaand it's gone. Flat natural lighting, there we go whew, check. Uncreative camera movements outside one we like (tracking the head), check. Flavorless characters and environments, check. Comedy action that has some good moments, check! Every fight gets old fast....check. Villains are lame and just "villainy", check. A runtime far beyond the story being told, check.
A mediocre attempt at a budget action movie that obviously needed more effort/creativity to make it something good or even special, check.
Just gives that little extra to make it more watchable than your average action movie. The plot is easy to follow and the action is intense. With a little less exposition and a little less handholding it would've earned a higher rating.
