Beasts of No Nation 2015
Looking through the eyes of a child soldier in an endless war and the madness and cruelty that ensues from trying to survive that morbid environment. I didn't like the ending because the whole movie felt like a UN propaganda. However, the acting was amazing and raw.

Lamb 2015
A beautifully shot film with a simple plot. A peek into the Ethiopian culture that is rare to be seen on screen through the eyes of an innocent boy away from the presence of his parents. Culture, tradition, family, and gender are key elements that make up the movie. It was refreshing to see the landscape almost become a character that plays a crucial role in visually communicating the cultural overtone of this film to the audience.

This was a film very hard to watch because it desperately cries for help. The director puts on screen the dark corners of reality that not a lot of people have the guts to even speak of. In the shadows that shroud the blind spots of our society, those of who having been departed and abandoned spiral quickly into even darker places.
