It took me some time to pin down the kitchy tone and the superficial message. This film is reminiscent of Forest Gump!.
Tragic things keeps happening to our dumb naive characters. And the constant VO seems to be saying "oh, well" over and over again.
"Manipulative" is a strange derogatory but this movie fits the bill.
About the animation, the cinematography was exactly like in his previous films but done more mechanically. What was once bold is now lazy.

I wish I knew this is a comedy coming in

Saw this one as a grown up and even though I'm not a Trekkie I really enjoyed it. That submarine feeling of it is really something. The khan character is breaking at the seams with energy, shatjer and nimoy are also at their prime as are SFX guys. Loved it

A vanity project, a social issue drama about mental health. Don't believe the trailer, this is not quirky or fun. Just boring.
