Enjoyed this. I felt like it was an unusual story with great acting. I was impressed by Ana Paquins accent and the cinematography. Beautiful painterly scapes and colours. Long and sprawling tragic romance against the NZ backdrop. Impressive that it won the Palme d’or and it was written and directed by the same lady.

Hard Eight 1996
Some intriguing characters. Hoffman is amazing as per, even as a cameo. Liked Sydney’s part in the script. Thought John C Reilly and Gwyneth let the side down a touch. Not much chemistry there. Samuel L Jackson played a similar part as always. Film felt as if Tarantino might have been inspired by it. Maybe both directors were inspired by the same source material. Liked the end and the story as a whole, felt almost like a Coen bros plot (but slightly less juicy than they would have done it I’m sure. On the whole enjoyable and worth a watch.

The Many Lives of William Klein 2012
I like the photographers work and it was cool to see his personality on film. The documentary was a bit weak and the interviewer was clearly a bit intimidated. He’s normally quite good but I think he struggled with such a big character on this occasion.

American Woman 2018
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Well acted and nicely paced except for the anticlimactic ending. Thought Sienna Miller was great but the film built up all the way through and went nowhere. This film is about grief and change not about justice or closure as I thought it might be.
