The visuals in this movie are stunning. Settings are imaginative, and animations just satisfying to watch. It hasn’t aged at all in 30 years.
Beyond the visuals however, this movie falls flat for me. I expected more of the lyricism in a movie that is 80 to 90% sung. Sentences are phrased somewhat awkwardly, and there are a lot of “filler” lines that don’t drive the plot forward. It slows down the movie, and leaves a plot that I miss…
