  I am of a mind that one of the most powerful techniques in a filmmakers bag is that of visual juxtaposition. To take advantage of common cinematic shorthands, and stereotypical aesthetics, and present an audience with the complete opposite at opportune moments to create some sort of visceral response.

  This, I think, was Barbie’s greatest strength as well as its biggest weakness. Gerwig, Baumbach, Prieto, these are all people who know what they are doing and do it extremely well.…
