There's an odd levity and playfulness for such a dark story. Something in it reminds me of Heathers - the mocking of suicide, the intensity and banality of adolescent angst, the dissociated parents etc.
And there are these amazing moments when the real, childish experiences and emotions of the girls break through the story the boys tell of them as transcendental, "unfathomable" creatures
