I held a screening of this film for a community sustainability event and I’m so glad I went with this film. I haven’t been keeping up with the plastic crisis since pre-pandemic times, and it’s so disheartening to see how these beautiful countries in Southeast Asia are being affected by plastic primarily produced by the west. So fucking relevant!!! We have the same issues decades later… except now instead of being only associated with fascists, the scapegoating of American immigrants is as prevalent as ever and constantly being perpetuated by conservatives, centrists, and many liberals too. I do question how possible/realistic it is to reform the ideals of a gruesome killer who readily identifies as a white supremacist, but I can admit that this film does a good job of humanizing fascists and gets its points across very well. I would love to see a re-make with different actors and more of a practical dialogue.
