The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil 2019
I’m not certain how Cannes film screenings are picked but it's very hard to believe this made the cut. A C tier movie at best this is a very shallow example of a crime thriller. Actors must have swallowed their pride to give performances this egotistically bad given the poor writing. It’s not uncommon for Korean cinema to pump out templated thrillers but there have been many far better than this. Over the top yet still boring; this movie underperformed far more than expected.

Im not sure why they chose to go with that movie poster as I thought I was walking into a biopic with a charming romance on the side. I assumed very wrong, their relationship was uncomfortable and made out of desperation of the two. The movie has issues switching focus and spending a lot of time on Ev which arguably was not needed. If the movie focused more on her as an artist and the struggles she faced it could have come off more touching but instead I sat through some twisted abusive relationship. Sally kills the role and the movie has its charms.
