In the Mood for Love 2000
It is a beautiful movie portraying the central emotion of desire in a beautifully intimate way, fully utilizing the medium of film to advance its themes by combining the visual aspects with the often minimal dialogue. However, if you can't follow the names of the characters in a book like War and Peace, having some kind of name guide could be useful, as characters are quickly introduced and often referenced.

Solid movie. The opening was powerful, and the character's emotions were vividly portrayed throughout. I especially appreciated the emotional maturity of the characters and the way the movie envisioned the romantic relationships, refusing to boil it down to the good vs bad relationship, rather the one that happened vs the one that didn't. However, the ending dragged a little bit.
