Alright alright alright! Really corn-fed, tactile, proper 90s action! Love seeing the crew shudder when the sub goes below it's rated depth. Love all the pipes, and dials, and diesel engines with tons of pinch points in the valve train. Love when bolt heads get popped off flanges. If evading Kraut depth charges seems more important than historical accuracy, then this is for you.

Bad Day at Black Rock 1955
Amazing desert compositions. I haven't been watching as many "old" movies these days, so it felt a bit slow, but the craft is there, and that's a "me problem". Was likely very ahead of its time for 1955 and a stacked cast. Can see the influence this has had all over films that came out later - Red Rock West, Asteroid City, the list goes on

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
Saw the Black and Chrome version and I think I enjoyed it even more than in the theatre back in May. I probably would have given this a 4/5 on the first viewing. I didn't know what to expect, and it wasn't quite Fury Road.
The anthology style was not what I expected and I didn't fully appreciate it. Seeing it again in (mostly) black and white knowing what was coming let me just sit back and enjoy the story…
