  best anime of all time. the fact this came out in 1988 is astonishing. animation and design language is better than most modern anime. the stories context is still relevant in present time. at its heart this is a classic hero vs villain story. kaneda and tetsuo are like obi wan and anakin. such a simple and easy to understand story painted with bright neon orgasmic artistry. you feel the grit of neo-tokyo, you see the crime, the abandoned atmosphere. it all feels so real although it is completely fictitious.

  this is the most sexual shit i have laid my eyes on. this movie leaves you distraught and frustrated but you have seen some guy jump over a table and drop kick someone in the face. the sequence of the final 20 minutes was impeccable. you can feel the dread of inevitability in this whole film, it leaves you feeling helpless. it is an honest portrayal of what being a detective would be like. these men who worked the case…
