This is such a great entry to Lynch I feel like it has a l a really well-rounded mixture of a lot of his main themes, techniques and visual motifs

Then the setting of Hollywood is just perfect

    What a masterpiece

So ends David Lynch day at the Phoenix. RIP the GOAT I will never forget this experience!!

Fave cinema honouring a fave director!

Ep 8 screening @ Phoenix Lynch Day

This episode is a trip man, makes even less sense to me than lost highway. Nukes, Nine inch nails, Bob is a ball, Mr C schrodinger, shadow cannibals? Jeffries Kettle. Now the world is monochrome.

But nothings black n white haha

    Mulholland Drive to go!

A kiss from a dark winged angel...a picnic to witness the end of the world.

The walls that confine most became their only freedom. We peer into an adventure on the edge between warped reality and rationale.

This film was both endearing and disturbing. The characters themselves having a Child-like innocence but at the same time pasts filled with darkness.

Narrative themes like salvation, abuse, innocence, apocalypse all weave into each other. Love this sort of story telling.

The cinematography was stunning throughout and that final scene. Goodness.

[ Bonus points for cool priest man and existential bickering :) ]

Baumbach is defo one of my fave filmmakers. The way he tells stories is just so well controlled. It’s somehow pretentious but authentic at the same time.

This film really is a study into the family dynamic. As opposed to Baumbach’s later work marriage story, the focus here is less on the divorce and more on it’s effects. Also we see things play out more from the perspective of the first born son,Walt.

The performances here are amazing. A pretentious,…
