The Seventh Seal is surprisingly funny at times, downright comical, and the ending feels even more humorous the more I think about it. The main character tries to “play” with Death and looks for every possible way to evade him, yet in the end, that very attempt only leads him directly to the fate he was running from.
It’s like a serene drama mixed with a dose of black comedy. Balancing the absence of God against the ever-present fear of mortality, this film explores themes of life, death, and faith. At its core lies a single, profound question: “Does God truly exist?”
