mother! 2017
Jennifer Lawrence is a phenomenal actress and fully gives herself to this film. The complex nature of how the human race treats the Earth and all of its being will ultimately lead to its demise. Additionally, it’s ties to religion with the depiction of the story of creation and the idolization of God, celebrities, and humans in general. Darren Aronofsky is a genius.

The Farewell 2019
“a good lie”
Director Lulu Wang, provides a beautifully honest perspective of the new generations of Americans struggling to gain footing between both of their cultures and the disconnection they may feel to either. The idea that at times it can feel like you are betraying or losing some part of yourself, if you assimilate “more” into one culture than the other.
The Farewell is such a simple, yet very moving film that delves into the idea of what we believe is “right”, the stark contrasts between the Eastern and Western cultures, as well as the growing generational divide on certain concepts.
