You know the actors.tres are phenamonal when you get emotional over a story you’ve seen a million times.
In fact, the story is not original at all, it’s a pretty classic romance story with not that much backround on the characters or particular details on their past that bring weight to the story. Yet, the beautiful performances of Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh and their obvious insane chemestry makes the movie stand out even so. Despite the story not having a lot of juice to fuel on, the co-stars bring so much depth and emotion to the no-so-original story.

Not your classic fever-dream movie and that’s exactly whats refreashing about this film.
For a movie where nothing much is happening, emotions are absolutely present. The only 4 cast members’s performances are incredible and carry the entire movie. The slow pacing puts you into a contemplative appreciation of the raw emotions portrayed, and is calming in a way that creates a pathway for deep empathy to the characters even though we barely know anything about them.

You know that an animation movie is peak when there’s not a single piece of dialogue and you understand everything, even in the subtilities of the emotions portrayed.
This movie represents what animation is for : beautiful visuals telling us a story by the power of images. I often hear people discrediting animation features because it’s considered “childish” or simplistic, but great animation movies are way deeper than it looks like on the surface, even more than certain motion picture films. Flow is exactly that, and i definitely think it was Oscar winning best animated feature film worth. Well deserved.
I love this movie so much, its part of my childhood!! Of course im biaised, still i think Lee and Chan’s chemistry is incredible, the soundtrack is fire, the action and combat scenes are flawless… i mean, its not the movie of the year or anything, but i think that film has a lot to offer.
