A very video-gamey, adventurous romp! interesting creative choice to have Robert do the accent of a 15-year-old anime protagonist, fleshlight-shaped animal creatures, and Mark Ruffalo doing his best cross between Boris Johnson and Donald Trump, this movie is a mess. But it’s a fun, and enjoyable, and well-made mess that honestly comes to together cohesively. I think any other director wouldn’t have pulled this off, but Uncle Bong did good. Very messy and saucy, but ultimately delicious.

Absolutely one of the funniest and most utterly disturbing things I’ve ever seen in a theater. Might be my favorite movie of this year.
Margret Qualley and Demi Moore give the best body-horror and physical comedy performances of their careers. The writing in this is so absurd and surreal that it’s borderline experimental, yet a simple story of chasing the dragon, and the consequences of addiction, sex appeal, and BPD.
I think Dennis Quaid is on “The Substance” himself, nobody would simultaneously do Reagan and this back to back right?!?!
