Relationships are weird. This film feels very personal to Eisenberg, the holocaust and estranged family life themes alike; the script really taps into subtle uncomfortabilities only a life of 'unremarkable pain' would burden one with understanding - and what a directorial feat to capture these quirks, these social and emotional ticks of the Eisenberg vessel, Eisenbergian devices.
The broader idea of the film is what really got me; past horrors (historical and individual) resurface as family tensions reach breaking point…
