  This film starts slow but steadily works to find a nice suspenseful pace. Robert Newton stands out by being able to balance playing a man who is jealous and angry yet calm and pragmatic at the same time.

  The back-and-forth between Newton and Scotland Yard Superintendent Finsbury, played by Naunton Wayne, is so rewarding. The viewer is lucky enough to see all the cards the men hold, so the sequence of how they play them is the film's highlight.
