The Evil Dead 1981
Absolutely insane. While there was some dead space, the absolutely insane gore managed to pull me back in every time. It might almost be too over the top for my liking. Killer final half hour.

Grave of the Fireflies 1988
Potentially the saddest movie I’ve seen. A movie about the awful affects war has on the innocent, while also mixing in plenty of beautiful moments of the main characters making the most of the little, happy moments that came few and far between.

Pleasantly surprised. Maybe I’m overrating it a little because I wasn’t expecting too much.
Only real negative was a lot of the fighting was boring because she was so much stronger than everyone else and there was no real jeopardy or tension in those scenes.
