Certainly did not expect something like this to come out of the year 1980. Even more surprised that this was Redford’s DEBUT film. A touching story about loss and contempt topped off with all time great performances from all time great actors. Not a film that gets talked about a lot today, but it should be.

Solid and fun, but I’m not sure Marvel can give Deadpool another movie where he’s the main protagonist. Constant one liners and fourth wall breaks are starting to get stale.

In a film full of PTSD triggering 90’s bangs Margot Robbie stars as a modern day Icarus with white trash beginnings.  The interview style biopic isn’t one that I remember seeing and a style I thoroughly enjoyed and served to keep the story moving. Allison Janney...well played Allison Janney and Sebastian Stan played American Sebastian Stan. Credit to the casting director, I suppose. Probably the element that stands out the most is the deep, gritty dive it takes into the psychology of abusive relationships, romantic and parental. Overall a great film that I’m surprised didn’t do more in the 2017 awards season.

There isn’t much to dislike about this movie. In fact, there almost isn’t anything at all to dislike about this movie. Joaquin Phoenix thrusts himself into the Oscar conversation with this entrancing portrayal of mental illness run rampant and unchecked. Todd Phillips master of pacing was put on display. The score was breathtaking and did an outstanding job of establishing tone. Definitely one of the top films of the year. The one drawback is that one twist was incredibly easy to predict. Other than that it was a near flawless film.
