  Honestly think Herzog is the worst part of this. Can’t take him seriously as the monstrous father. That’s just wacky ol’ Herzog! Sevigny, however, is immense in her understatedness. The scene where she’s role playing with Julien over the phone as their late mother… didn’t know Korine had that kind of vulnerability in him.

  I’ve never been a fan of the type of movie centered around a blank goober character who has things happen to him though he never acts himself. There’s nothing to latch onto. But at least Being There has Peter Sellers in the role. You mean Tati cast himself as the main goober in all these things? There’s nothing remarkable or funny about him. It’s hardly even a performance. 

  The beginning and very end are a bit better. The extended restaurant…
