Honestly one of the very few ‘Christmas-centered’ movies and Romcoms I can tolerate lol … a majority of them just tend to be overly cheesy, sappy, etc.

That’s not to say Love Actually goes without some moments of cheesiness or cliches. It is a film with a scene or two that can be slightly cringey- but all in good balance. The British humor keeps it funny without being obnoxious.

Love Actually can be tricky in connecting some of the dots- but overall, it is a really sweet comfort film… and not exclusively a Christmas film.

My Favorite Film Since My Teenage Years

This film just does it all for me. The Old Hollywood Glamour, the tragedy, the delusions and illusions of a protagonist so fearful of being forgotten and abandoned that it becomes evidently self-destructive.

It’s noir without being overly mysterious. There is powerful emotional without being overtly sentimental. There is insanity without the histrionics of other ‘thrillers’ of that era. Sunset Boulevard is a well-balanced film… Hollywood, Heartbreak, and Hysteria.

    Absolute favorite.

Rest in Peace David Lynch, you genius.

Blue Velvet did not disappoint. A thriller… but also mellow. An environment of relaxation, surrealism, ambience, and innocence quickly turn to an edge-of-the-seat, sometimes twisted freudian mystery.

Not as subjective as Mulholland Drive - but similar in aesthetic style and shares the unpredictable character revelations/overlaps.

Only reason I deducted half a star is due to the scenes portraying abuse and assault- but that is just due to my own reaction to those scenes.…
