  Intergenerational envy. Thanks u to contrapoints for defining what i felt watching a lot of this movie

  During the first third i thought this was gonna be the EU version of heartstopper but then it had some actually deeper things to say about gay adolescence and some genuinely powerful scenes and although it was underdeveloped at parts & the acting was occasionally shaky, it was ultimately just very touching

  Also when they were talking about past loves i was so confused because i thought they were like 8 years old but this is what middle schoolers look like apparently

  i liked it!! it captured the heart of the book and it was a beautiful movie, but i would have absolutely ADORED it with another (LONGER) edit… i needed a stronger foundation and a much slower pace to sit with these characters and care about them more
