  People seem to really like this movie but if it weren’t for James McAvoys performance, this would get two-and-a-half from me. Sure, it’s suspenseful and I guess it accomplishes what it sets out to do in that sense, but the characters are idiots and at a certain point I stopped caring about them. Not to mention the first hour or so which spent watching James McAvoy be sorta creepy, but oh he was just kidding… being a little creepy, but…

  In a Violent Nature 2024

  This only gets the three stars because of the unique idea of sticking with the killer rather than the victims. However, that choice also made it so you don’t give a rat’s ass about any of the victims, which is especially frustrating when the movie asks you to toward the end. Unfortunately, any interesting ideas incorporated here were overshadowed by long stretches of boredom and an absolutely nonsense ending. I really wanted this to be better. But it’s more of a one-watch curiosity.

  Having enjoyed the Trailer Park Boys quite a bit, I was curious to see the guys portraying versions of themselves as well as just working on something different altogether. Boy was I disappointed.

  If the main conceit of your film is that you require swearing to be funny, then shouldn’t you at least be funny with your swearing? I mean look, I have no problem with swearing (fuck, fuck, fuck. See?) but to me, just stringing random “swear” words together…

  Better than expected. It gets an extra half star for Schwarzenegger getting two genuine laughs out of me.
