A slow, moody neo-noir movie with a killer electronic score and vibrant lighting and color grading is right up my alley, so it should come as no surprise that I liked this movie quite a bit. I would almost go so far as to say that I was giddy after watching it.
It's certainly odd at times, and the usage of 9/11 footage as some sort of metaphor for the main character and his twin brother is certainly eyebrow raising.…
This was a fun thriller. It has kind of a unique structure that elevates it a little. The performances are strong too, especially from Cassandra Naud.
There were moments where it felt like the movie was trying to make some sort of commentary on social media and influencer culture, but it never quite got there.
I do like the fact that the opening credits played over the beginning of the second act, 20+ minutes into a 90 minute movie.
It's a mumblecore movie about a guy selling Christmas trees in the city. It pretty much is what it says on the tin. It's a little bleak, but not oppressively so, and at the same time it's kind of cozy.
I could see myself watching this again next Christmas and realizing that I had forgotten the entire movie, but still enjoying it again.
