A brilliant gothic world captured in depth with a mysterious force powered by lust and the consequences of past mistakes. A huge step up from Northman and clearly using what Eggars has learned from his years of pushing the boundaries of what you can do on film while still telling a coherent story. Decently scary, very mysterious, and super cool.

Wicked 2024
Has potential and I see why it was an exciting project to be adapted to film but I feel Jon Chu looses me with his blander style despise the heavy usage of practical effects the visual aspects just aren’t there. The leads of this movie are pretty perfectly cast and really carry this movie I had low expectations for Ariana especially and I was pleasantly surprised.

Finally, a film this summer can unequivocally burst its way through the slog that it the 3/5 review. Well constructed plot, great acting, and ballsy horror direction with a lack of direct jumpscares and more lingering shots that allow the horror to build. I love Dan Stevens so I wasn't surprised by his excellent performance. But when it comes to Hunter Schafer, I now want her in more horror projects.
