it’s beautiful and comfortable and visually interesting enough to get away with all of the lingering shots and stilted dialogue.
the acting is pretty piss poor in a lot of spots but it’s still in that charming ‘we’re still figuring out movies’ 80’s kind of way. idk im not going to defend the weak points of this film but I’ll like it regardless.

In ‘The VVitch,’ Eggers artfully recreated the suffocating conservatism of Colonial Massachusetts. The historical accuracy, with dialogue being pulled from first person accounts, was innovative and enlightening.
