Star Trek: Section 31 2025
Terrible. Bland, forgettable, bad design, bad music, bad everything. Doesn't even live up to the idea of presenting an edgier Star Trek. In DS9, Section 31 wanted to genocide a whole species. Here the edginess is restricted to punching and swearing. Sisko did more hardcore things every Tuesday and he was regular Starfleet. Sloan was a genuinely evil dude; this movie makes the empress of a galaxy spanning ethnostate look tame in comparison.
Why doesn't Georgiou do anything genuinely evil?…

This film best captures how the codes and rituals of masculinity can so easily blur into homoeroticism out of any movie I have seen. And at the very end the one touch of overt, traditional Western femininity that we see from Galoup transforms the whole narrative. Galoup’s memoirs don’t betray his true feelings. It is giving into the physical movements his body craves, in front of a mirror.
I just wish it wasn’t SO stark so I could relate to it more.
