The Hate U Give 2018
This movie is fucking terrible.
It's important, sure, but when you take such important, nuanced and underrepresented (in cinema, at least) subject matter like BLM, and absolutely butcher it with terrible characters, writing, conflict and acting, it just makes me fucking sad.
I wrote literal pages of notes while watching about how fucking upsetting and shitty this movie was, and I stand by every word of it.
Watch Mangrove instead, or any other fantastic black art. This is bad.
