  There was a lot to love here! I thought positioning the geomancers and mediums as normal people who do normal things like go to the gym was really smart, and the casting was solid across the board. The plot did take some deeper dives into the history of Korean/Japanese relations than I was expecting, but I was easily able to keep up during the movie and then some post-screening Googling…

  A sad, spooky movie is the best spooky movie. If empathy is at the core of horror, it will always go hand in hand with drama and melancholy. Plus, this movie features the original Lewton Bus scare! Come on now. It's a classic for a reason: measured, subtle, atmospheric, and rife with symbolism. Decidedly my kind of movie.
