Venom: Let There Be Carnage 2021
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The comedy in this film is poorly timed and doesn't come out of the characters motivation or the plot. In fact, often thing in the plot happen ONLY to tell a joke. (i.e. Venom's retreat from Carnage in their first and only interaction, just to tell an "Eating Heads" joke.) And when they have funny jokes they are strung together so quickly that the audience has no time to react before they are hit with another bad joke.

Not nearly the scariest movie of the decade, but it was fun. It had the atmosphere of a potentially super scary movie but the predictability and rote execution of the basic plot points and “twists” distract from what was otherwise an excellent Silence of the Lambs clone. Nicholas Cage was fun to watch and there are disquieting moments for certain, but it felt a little too much like a checklist plot for my taste.
