The Whale was a beautiful film, a deep cutting story of a man named Charlie who experienced a trauma which shut him down for years. This is the story 6 years after this event. This isn’t a happy movie, every character in this movie has experienced some form of trauma. But, Charlie’s optimistic view that people are incapable of not caring is shown again and again as he try’s to get through to his daughter of which he had abandoned.…

Chasing Mavericks 2012
Who knew a movie about surfing could be so emotional (both uplifting and devastating), adventurous, and captivating. Boy, I almost shed a tear about halfway through this movie and by the end I was hyped tf up by this 15 yo surfer. If you want to watch a boy becoming a man, a man becoming a father, and surfer surfing some big ass waves this is most definitely the movie for you.

Whiplash 2014
J.K. Simmons’ Terrance Fletcher was an amazing tyrannical jazz teacher. His use of psychological warfare against his students only led me to like his character more, and want to see more of his screen time. Miles Teller plays a great Andrew Neiman who starts as a timid, shy shell of a child but graduates to a fierce, depressed but more full of himself man. I can never get enough of J.K. Simmons cursing out his band and his endless obscene sayings. Great watch, I do recommend.
