Sadly underwhelming for gen amount of praise this film gets. Groundbreaking in its style, but the plot feels relatively underwhelming and somewhat random. Still, Tarantino establishes the unique filmmaking tricks that go on magnify his next films. The beginning and ending are the best parts of the film, because Samuel L Jackson is sorely missing from the middle. A good start to Tarantino’s filmography that skyrockets from here.

Captain America: Brave New World 2025
A decent return to form for Marvel, but a generic superhero film that doesn’t really offer anything unique or meaningful to the genre. The character designs for Sterns as the Leader and Red Hulk were visually unique, and Anthony Mackie did a great job leading as the new Captain America. Isiah Bradley was the MVP and sorely underutilized. Decent enough film, but mostly forgettable.

RRR 2022
This film proves that Bollywood can do things that Hollywood just can’t. The episodic structure of the story, the music and dance numbers mixed with gruesome dark themes, the silliness of having 7 final action sequences one after another, are all simply out of Hollywood’s reach. The story, actions, and cachets are so fun to watch and the story is legitimately intriguing. My favorite non-Hollywood movie to date.

The Matrix 1999
Amazing action movie with such a unique premise that it has cemented itself in the culture to this day. The terms “escape the matrix” and “take the red pill” are embedded so deeply in our lexicon that it probably makes this movie the film with the biggest impact on our society in decades. I say all this to detail just how much hype and expectations naturally surround a movie like the Matrix. As such, the movie felt understandably underwhelming, but seeing as the expectations have been shot through the roof, that can be forgiven. Really just an all-time classic film.
