Despite the rating, I went into this thinking it was going to feel dated. While some of it does feel a little old, it is generally so ahead of its time that any sort of old feeling doesn't detract. This manages to be a gay, lesbian, trans, and straight movie all at once. The comedy is also still hilarious. Jack Lemmon is absolutely hysterical, and Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis are both great too. This was my first time watching…

Black Girl 1966
I could say a lot about this and which parts (most of them) are relevant now, but the movie really just speaks for itself. It has a perfect runtime of barely over an hour, and everyone's time, including my own, is better spent just watching the movie instead of reading whatever I have to say about it. With that being said, I think the ending of this movie is going to stick with me for a long time.

A friend described this positively as a "modern horror", and I agree that it feels like a modern horror, but think it really holds it back in almost every way. Shall We Dance? 1996
Wow. This is exactly what movies should be. There is such a clear and obvious love for both movies and the subject from every single part of this that it is impossible not to be captivated by it. There is not a single bad performance, but Koji Yashuko's could easily be in the running for an all-time great -- it is, at the very least, the clear best of his many, many great roles.
I really found myself loving this entire movie and could've easily given it 5 stars. I definitely think on another watch this has potential to be one of my favorites.
