  Barbie stems from a highly polarised culture, the USA in the 2020s. A particular conflict (women/men) is zoomed in upon, brushing off other thematics of contemporary American politics. Queer coded characters are sidekicks, there's a Black president somewhere in the background, jokes about corporate America and tax evasion are thrown in here and there. But this is essentially an isolated polarisation.
