Everybody Rides the Carousel 1975
really wanted to watch this after encountering stage 6 (intimacy vs isolation) on IG and the fact that erikson's psychosocial stages of development is still one of my favorite theories since i entered college.
incredibly intimate dialogue but visually pleasing animation! this definitely showed a lot of nuance to the tensions/conflicts of each stage of life. I also love the touch of showing how earlier stages continue to manifest or play into the later stages of life.
its so bittersweet, yes, but life is still so beautiful despite it and i am enjoying this ride!
also the trust vs mistrust cats... so cute
