for someone with healthily married parents this is probably nerve wracking at worst and an interesting story at best.
for someone who has seen the absolute destruction of a marriage, it’s honest and sad and not very inspiring or hopeful. it is simply a truthful reminder that toxic roots are not always so apparent in a relationship, but they can still lead to a devastating end.
cute silly funny sweet
a quirky little feel good movie :-)

my notes while watching:
- NOTE: tk = tea cake
- janie is always the most sensual one. sensitive to her emotions and her attractions and her sexuality. everyone else seems to think she’s immature and childlike or silly. like she’s not real enough. (sensitivity is basically enjoyment. the best sex is when your senses are heightened. you sense the things that you always sensed before as pain or discomfort, but they don’t translate that way anymore. suddenly discomfort becomes…
“you can’t get free when you’re being supported”
“when are you gonna learn, edie? you’re in this world you know, you’re not out of the world”
