an old, secluded and beautiful haunted house full of character, a couple with an eccentric and esoteric occupation, melancholic woman filled with grief, anguish and mental torment told through ghostly apparitions, and andrew lincoln playing a domestic and doting husband decked out in wool jumpers with glasses — all wrapped up in a beautiful colour grade.

watching this after mr timothée chalamet has been officially cast for the bob dylan biopic, for research.
even though this is shot on black and white 16mm film — it has so much colour, and life, and soul. the dialogues are authentic, the laughter is contagious and the music is unforgettable.
the camera acts as a POV as though it’s through your eyes — you are both fan & friend; waiting at ungodly hours outside musicians windows and witness to hushed…

i can understand why people really dislike this movie but…
if it was shot on 35mm, with a grungier colour grade, some more synth & slightly less cringy dialogue, it actually could’ve been really good! (oh!, and a lot more willem dafoe, obviously)
