The Limey 1999
Soderbergh’s The Limey is a film all film school students should watch for its unique use of editing. While I would argue that the use of j-cuts was maybe a bit much in certain scenes and overused overall in the film, it’s a wonderful example to learn from. The use of footage for flashbacks from Poor Cow (1967) was fascinating and brought a lot to the characterization of Wilson. Terrence Stamp’s performance was also wonderful. I would definitely watch again and would again for sure if I was in an editing class I wanted to revisit some of the choices made in this film.
