I just read the 700+ page book this miniseries was based on. The book is SO full of character and plot development that this feels like a shiny shell only. The screenplay dumbs it down for the audience so much that it feels borderline offensive. Do they really need to spell it out for us like this?

I am in the minority of horror fans who.... gasp!.... PREFERS THIS MINI SERIES TO THE ORIGINAL MOVIE.
Steven is an amazing Jack. No one will convince me otherwise. Yes, Jack Nicholson was terrific as Jack, too, but he started out crazy and unhinged and ended crazy and unhinged. We get to see Jack unravel slowly, which is much closer to the original material.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit more than I thought I would! I thought the POV was interesting and I loved that the font of the credits looked so much like Poltergeist.
This was acted competently and the characters kept me engaged. The ending caused a stir with the friends I saw the movie with and was divisive. It created some good conversation, which I appreciate.
