Enjoyable but not as good as the hype would suggest.

Throwbacks to the original were far too heavy handed and in your face, and just got boring after a while. And I’m not sure what the point of Jennifer Connelly’s character was as she literally added zero value to the movie or the plot.

Innovative stage presentation, but completely lacklustre performance. Band on autopilot, none of the energy and passion of classic U2 performances.

I really wanted to like this, and be moved by it - especially viewing it today. The narration was absorbing, but not anything that hasn't been heard before. The colourised footage, far from bringing the war to life, is completely alienating and gimmicky, not helped by the some of the obviously animated photographs used. Really disappointing - a project that sounds amazing when you read about it, but sadly doesn't live up to the high expectations set.
